spain s javi bora has been steadily carving out a name for himself over the past few years holding up a residency at the infamous, now late space ibiza and its kehakuma parties, as well as racking up releases for elrow music, suara, robsoul, 2020 vision and moda black. here though we see him paired with fellow spaniard for a new ep set to be released via london s fledgling spilt milk recordings which has played host to material from the likes of italoboyz, alexi delano and of course its founders tred benedict and st. bernard. title-track bounze takes the lead on the record, laying the foundations with snaking synth sequences, voice atmospherics and robust rhythms before hector moralez and katal step in on the remix. the pair reshape bounze with their own stripped-back distinctive style, opting for floating pads, heavily swung percussion and snippets from the originals spoken parts. ritual rights follows and lays focus on arpeggio 303 tinged bass hits, crunchy drums and subtly unfolding synth leads that ebb and flow throughout the record. the 002 then rounds out the package with dubby stab sequences, soaring pad swells and gritty, energetic rhythms

them records welcomes back hiroaki iizuka for the its fifth outing. having supplied the the run as the labels first record, here iizuka doubles its play time and track listing length in his stunning voodoo ep. the extra time offered allows iizuka to flex more of his versatile style. them as a label sets out to eschew a techno norm largely made up of a traditional 4 x 4 sound. having come from a london background, the curating of the label gives a nod to the rave sounds of the capital - especially d&b, garage, breakbeat hardcore and grime. that is to say of course along with its characteristic aesthetic of horror and the gothic.
in iizuka them found a common ground: based in hokkaido, japan, iizuka does not share the same london influences, yet shares their base values and thrust. common themes of his sound involve broken and syncopated beats, and a rave energy. this is what lead him to being the first and prime them stable artist. voodoo ep showcases this breadth of iizuka’s style, from tracks that could easily fit into any grime set, such as primitive acid, to the more melodic tones of floating point, in which hiroaki guides them into previously untrodden ground for the imprint.

having worked with the likes of don cherry and laurie anderson, there s little doubting the credentials of ramuntcho matta. emotional rescue have tapped him up for some truly outernational jams that sport african percussion, skronky jazz tones and an engaging minimalism that s hard to resist. the fretless bass and exotic animal cries of -ecoute- are especially appealing, while the squelchy sound design in -o clapo- may well do funny things to all who hear it. it s a startlingly original record that serves as a perfect introduction to a lesser known figure in leftfield music with a great heritage behind him.

acclaimed be as one boss shlomi aber makes a big step up here by putting out a trio of his killer techno cuts on the always excellent and forward looking nonplus label run by boddika. his xy play ep continues in his no nonsense, floor facing style and impresses once more. shlomi aber is an underground titan who runs his own musical empire in the form of his be as one label. he has made it into an essential outlet for no frills house and techno and his own output has found him in fine favour with djs and dancers alike. playing all over the world and also serving as an expert at the emerging ibiza festival on the white isle, here he comes correct once more. the title ep xy play is a brain frying affair with cantering drums and stern synths bringing a dark and intone vibe to the groove. way old story is just as heads down but less ominous, here the synths are a little spooky and add intrigue to his slick rubbery drums. last but not least related sources is a hunched over house track with dub in its kick drums and a desolate industrial feel in the landscapes above. atmospheric from the first to the last moment, this is another killer ep from shlomi aber.

we welcome miles atmospheric onto the common dreams roster with two very special tracks: heal and plight. he is founder of the label atmospheric existence and is previously known as miles sagnia. you can also find him on aesthetic audio, ornate, inner shift music, and applied rhythm technology. his music keeps the raw edge of early uk electronic music, merged with his own sound that is often described as futuristic, lush and deep.
heal is the harder and darker of the two. starting with a steady, monotone baseline and solid kick, we are soon immersed into a mind elevating arpeggiation and floating chords that take it to another level.

2016 repress - r&s welcome another newcomer to the family. with only one release behind him on hessle audio and a wicked remix for warp (the hundred in the hands) blawan finds his new tracks in demand from the likes of james blake, jackmaster, untold, ben ufo, ramadanman and pariah. the title track is already creating a bit of a stir from its inclusion in a few high profile dj sets, but all three tracks raise the game for this young producer. the whole ep is filled with an honest, infectious energy, just like his dj sets. you cant pigeonhole this as >post< anything, its pure, stripped down, club music. sometimes drums, bass and acid is all you need.

space art is behind the massive hits: “onyx”, “give me love”, “love in c minor” and more. one of half of the band, dominique perrier, is one of legend jean-michel jarre’s closest collaborators. recognized as a keyboard virtuoso, he worked on all jarre’s albums from “rendez-vous” (1986) to “oxygène 7-1” (1997) and still tours with him around the world. space art also toured with him in china in the early ’80s. alongside jean-michel jarre and cerrone they are one of the most influential bands that pioneered electro music.

after the previous collaborations with blawan and lucretio & marieu (aka the analogue cops), mannella is back with his first solo work -nebula viator-. there’s no definitive recipe for his individual productions, but you can usually expect varying amounts of evolving pads, nostalgic rhythm and structured drums change that give to his productions a rich hot surge. in this four track ep mannella is going back to his roots and main influences, showing us how essential is for him shaping them into his latest feeling: swaggering techno tracks powered by sleek house chords. nebula viator is a 24minutes ep crammed with slamming and chubby grooves set against a sprawling astral substrate..

we are truly excited about this releaseas we have been fans of vendi s work for quite some time now. the reflection of great cities of barcelona where he started experimenting with electronic music and berlin where he is currenty residing is palpable. the passion for producing great music has been recognised by the heavyweights like raresh and jamie jones to name but few. here at hoxton records we are very proud to have him on our 4th release. this one is definitely going to be proudly hanged on the wall (after being played a million times of course)

after a split release with chambray on ben sims’ hardgroove in 2016 greek-producer george tounisidis is set to drop a new 12” for symbolism in november entitled ‘solidarity’. with his first two cuts for the british dj’s imprint picking up support from the likes of dvs1, jackmaster and anthony parasole it’s unsurprising sims has tapped him for a full release on symbolism. since signing, tracks from ‘solidarity’ have also featured in both ben sims’ boiler room and run it red radio shows, resulting in a barrage of requests for release details which tees up the ep nicely. musically, ‘solidarity’ moves between scattered sequences and stabs (‘three clicks left’ & ‘solidarity’), muted hypnotics (‘nekyia’) and fractured acid (‘workers’) while all retaining the distinct sense of movement and dynamism that typifies symbolism releases.

sunandbass recordings returns with the four track fade away ep from arpxp, brilliantly showcasing the producer s ability to turn his hand to a wide range of different styles of drum & bass. well known and recognised for both the quality and diversity of his work, arpxp has released with iconic labels such as metalheadz, critical and of course sunandbass recordings, but now his fade away ep gives him a platform to really showcase what his work stands for, and where he is musically at the moment. with the smooth, melancholic vibes of fade away alongside mc fava, and the shoe-gazing vibes of ˜fifth step is goodbye , arpxp shows his ability to build a solid groove, with well sculpted sounds all interwoven together to form strong memorable tracks.

eshone (donnie valdez) is a 31 year-old graphic designer, music producer and dubstep dj from albuquerque, new mexico now living in poland. eshone has performed in twenty states and several countries, including: canada, denmark, poland, the netherlands, and slovenia. donnie s earliest musical memories were his electric guitar playing days and listening to heavy-metal bands from twenty-five years ago. learning this instrument and listening to heavy-metal expanded donnie s musical horizons to signal processing and sound manipulation. armed with technical knowledge, donnie shifted his focus to music production in 2004, specifically, drum and bass. eshone makes tunes quickly because of his innovative production techniques and instant application of his craft. his frenetic production pace is closely related to his high-energy live three deck sets. donnie learned how to mix in 2003 and had plans on becoming a turntablist. currently, donnie prefers to mix and blend his productions, which focus on heavy basslines and anthemic grooves while keeping a dark vibe and gritty texture. donnie s love of nature and music gave him incentive to create his record label, elk beats. the elk is very similar to donnie s music, internet presence, and online persona: peaceful, present, and powerful. donnie enjoys spontaneous activities, such as: fly fishing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. his other passion is music, and eshone s productions are custom-made for large rooms with low-lights, loud sound systems, and an intense emotional experience.
